Bere Sheet Ballet is a unique dance company
whose members ages range from 14 - 58. The
members continually discover that the opportunities
that liturgical dance provides are not only vehicles
for expressing the love of God, but also are personal
paths of healing from lifes struggles and
crises. Some of the members are cancer survivors
and survivors of various forms of abuse.
The word "bere'sheet," is the Hebrew
word that is the first word in the Torah, or Old
Testament. It means, "genesis" or "in
the beginning." "Bere'sheet" was
chosen as the name of this dance company to represent
the new beginnings in the lives of its members.
The word "ballet" is from the Italian
word "ballare," which simply means,
"to dance." Bere'sheet Ballet: "to
dance new beginnings."
Beresheet Ballet is a 501-C-3 organization.
Financial contributions are tax-deductible.
The artistic director of Beresheet Ballet,
Marie Plauche-Gustin, believes that one
movement done well with the right intent of the
heart can change a life. Quality of movement
expressing the sacred is the goal of Beresheet
Ballet. Dance and technique classes are taught
at all levels: Beginning, Intermediate & Advanced,
with an injury-free warm-up regaining flexibility
for bodies of all ages.
Workshops, seminars, dance
team training, ministry in worship spaces and
more are available through Bere'sheet Ballet.
Reaching out with God's love and reaching in with
the healing power of the Spirit, the Company offers
full length ballets and concerts, short dance
works, short drama works. Their focus is to serve
and meet the needs of the community, by performing
benefit concerts enabling them to provide financial
aid for women's special healthcare needs.
